Improve Your Oral Health and Appearance with Dentures

Today's dentures are more comfortable and lifelike than ever before. Dr. Arlene Kubit offers a range of options at our Erie, PA, practice, including full and partial restorations. Depending on your needs she may recommend a traditional denture or an implant-supported prosthetic, which offers unparalleled stability and several health benefits. Dr. Kubit has been in practice since 1985. In addition to her decades of experience, she has a genuine interest in your well-being and will work closely with you to precisely tailor your restorative treatment. If you already have a restoration and it has become chipped or broken, we also offer denture repair.

Understanding Your Options

Dr. Kubit tailors each patient's treatment based on their unique needs. We will begin your consultation by evaluating your oral and general health. If you still have remaining teeth, we will assess their health and stability. Some patients may require one or more extractions. We will also ask about certain lifestyle factors and your budget. Some treatment options could incur out-of-pocket costs, which is why we accept financing through Erie Federal Credit Union.

Today's dentures are more comfortable and lifelike than ever before. We offer a range of customized options to meet our patients' unique needs.

Partial vs. Full

Traditional partial dentures rely on nearby teeth for support and often have metal clasps. Full dentures are designed to replace an entire upper or lower dental arch. Traditional full dentures rely on a combination of special adhesive and suction to remain in place.

Traditional vs. Implant-supported

In contrast to traditional dentures, which rest on the gums or attach to remaining teeth, implant-supported restorations are fixed in place and self-sustaining. Dental implants are small titanium posts surgically placed in the jaw that integrate with the surrounding bone. Both partial and full dentures can be attached to the top of dental implants. Dr. Kubit can refer patients to a trusted oral surgeon if they choose this option.

What Can Dentures Provide?

Missing teeth can compromise your quality of life. Denture patients can benefit from:

  • Restored confidence
  • A more youthful appearance
  • Improved dental function
  • More nutritious diet
  • Ability to speak more clearly

Implant-supported dentures offer even greater advantages:

  • Guard against the bone degeneration which occurs after tooth loss
  • Preserve health of remaining teeth
  • Confidence knowing the denture will not slip out of place

It is important to understand that implant-supported dentures require a lengthy treatment timeline and considerable investment. Patients must also be healthy enough to undergo dental implant surgery.

The Treatment Process

To begin fabricating a traditional restoration, Dr. Kubit will first make impressions. Work will begin in our dental laboratory, taking into consideration detailed instructions regarding the appearance of your denture. Your denture will be customized to provide a natural look and comfortable, snug fit. It will take four to six weeks to receive your permanent restoration. We will typically provide you with a provisional denture while you heal from extractions.

If you undergo surgery to receive dental implants, you will need to wait at least four to six months before having your permanent denture attached. Similar to traditional dentures, a temporary can be provided to maintain your appearance and dental function. In select cases, Dr. Kubit can work alongside your surgeon to immediately place a customized denture using the All-on-4® technique.
